a black president

Wow! That's all I've been saying since Barack Obama was elected president on November 4, 2008. I can only imagine how those who lived through segregation feel. I didn't think I would see the day america would vote for a person of color to be president so young in my life. I thought maybe when i'm 60 or something. I guess i'll stick around in this country for a little longer..haha. No but seriously, I don't know what I would of done if McCain had won. Obama is no savior and in no way perfect. It's amazing how the world is reacting to his election.

There can still be arguments against what kind of a black president was elected but for the moment I think we do have acknowledge the election of any person of color to be president is just i don't know...remarkable, crazy, shocking. And, unlike what many folx are saying, injustices and racism still exist and many people of color still don't have the opportunity to succeed like Obama has. Obama's success should not be used to ignore the racism that people of color still experience on a day to day basis. His election does not solve racism but it does mark future possibilities.
